A network to promote the autonomy of care leavers, the opening conference of the project

The opening conference of the project CarINg took place on 23 November at the Palagio di Parte Guelfa in Florence. The meeting, coordinated by Caterina Arciprete (ARCO – PIN), was attended by more than 40 people including operators, educators and social workers. The meeting was an opportunity to let the community know about the project, its objectives and activities.

Furthermore, the conference was a valuable opportunity to start building the network that will be the basis for the construction of the project activities.

Among the speeches, Camilla Bianchi, Garante per l’Infanzia e l’Adolescenza della Regione Toscana, underlined the importance of a project that focuses on young people at such a delicate time as the pandemic.  Mario Biggeri (University of Florence – PIN) highlighted the need for a community response to the “loneliness” of care leavers. Donata Bianchi (Istituto degli Innocenti) offered the opportunity to deepen the experience of the Care Leavers experimentation already underway at national level, highlighting the importance of synergies and complementarity between the different paths.
